Busan Office of Education to Oversee Occupational Health Physicians and Worker Health Management

Operation of 'Visiting Health Keeper' for Workers at 10 Public Schools
Expected Effects: Industrial Accident Prevention and Voluntary Health Management by Workers

Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is taking active steps to manage the health of industrial health physicians and middle-aged and older workers suffering from chronic diseases.

On the 16th, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Acting Superintendent Choi Yunhong) announced that it will operate the "Visiting Health Keeper with Industrial Health Physicians" project targeting frontline workers such as public school cafeteria staff, facility managers, and janitors.

This project aims to prevent industrial accidents and improve work efficiency by managing workers with general disease observations and minor findings based on health checkup results.

The Busan Office of Education will run the project by having one industrial health physician and two health managers from the Office visit schools to consult with workers.

They will provide consultations including ▲basic health status checks such as blood pressure, blood sugar, and total cholesterol measurements ▲management of workers with minor findings and prevention of occupational diseases based on health checkup results ▲prevention of cerebrovascular, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and other diseases ▲identification of health risk factors caused by the work environment.

The Office plans to promote the project at 10 public schools from November until the end of the year, starting with a visit to Busan Software Meister High School on the 13th. Target schools will be selected monthly considering urgency and necessity, such as schools where industrial accidents occurred last year.

Choi Yunhong, Acting Superintendent of Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “The Office is committed not only to preventing industrial accidents but also to maintaining and promoting the health of workers. We hope this project will serve as a foundation for frontline workers to voluntarily manage their health and raise awareness.”
