Gwangju Seobu Police Station announced on the 16th that they had arrested a teenager, referred to as A, on charges of aggravated rape under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes, for sexually assaulting a female peer.
A is accused of sexually assaulting D, along with friends B and C, at a lodging facility in Seo-gu, Gwangju, around November last year.
According to the police investigation, A committed the crime while intoxicated after hearing that B, who was in a romantic relationship with D, had broken up with her, and while drinking with them.
After receiving a report from D, the police sequentially arrested and detained B and C, but A went into hiding and was apprehended in Seo-gu, Gwangju, on the 12th.
Considering the seriousness of the case, the police plan to apply for an arrest warrant and conduct a detailed investigation into the incident.
