The proposed pending projects include four items: △ expedited promotion of the Yangju Gwangseok housing development project △ early opening of Hoecheon Jungang-ro △ request for installation of a scenic pedestrian bridge over Deokgyecheon Stream △ request for installation of convenience facilities in Hoecheon District park.

The ‘Yangju Gwangseok housing development project’ was decided to be terminated by LH in 2015. However, local residents, Yangju City, and Gyeonggi Province strongly advocated for the project’s resumption, leading LH to decide to resume and promote the project in 2018. Nevertheless, following the 2023 audit by the Board of Audit and Inspection, the project was halted, and currently, a demand survey service is underway.

In response, last November, Mayor Kang requested during a meeting with Park Sang-woo, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, that the project plan be reestablished and construction commenced based on the results of LH Korea Land and Housing Corporation’s demand survey service for the ‘Yangju Gwangseok housing development project,’ and that the opinions of the city and local residents be heard and reflected during the reestablishment process.

On this day, Mayor Kang emphasized in his discussion with Director Park that the prolonged neglect of the ‘Yangju Gwangseok housing development district’ has increased anxiety among local residents and strongly urged for the project to proceed without setbacks.

He also stressed the urgency of the early opening of ‘Hoecheon Jungang-ro’ to resolve traffic issues arising from the completion of the first phase and the full-scale move-in of apartments in the second phase of the ‘Hoecheon District,’ requesting active consideration of this matter.

Furthermore, he repeatedly mentioned that the absence of a bridge over Deokgyecheon Stream in the second phase new town, Hoecheon New Town, threatens citizens’ safety, urging the installation of a scenic pedestrian bridge over Deokgyecheon Stream to enhance citizen safety and mobility convenience.

In addition, he asked for active interest and support to alleviate basic living inconveniences for citizens, such as installing convenience facilities in the Hoecheon District park.

Mayor Kang Su-hyun of Yangju City stated, “If Yangju City and LH cooperate and communicate together to solve problems, sustainable development and urban competitiveness can be achieved simultaneously,” emphasizing the need for close cooperation with LH to resolve pending projects.

He added, “Our Yangju City plans to do its best in urban development and infrastructure expansion that meet the expectations of local residents.”
