Lee Wan-seop, Mayor of Seosan, Chungnam, stated, "We will do our utmost to expand various public sports facilities and attract sports events based on the existing infrastructure so that we can leap forward as a sports and healthy city."
On the 15th, during a conversation with citizens held at the Seongyeon-myeon Administrative Welfare Center, Mayor Lee engaged in enthusiastic communication with about 150 residents of Seongyeon-myeon and emphasized his commitment to expanding sports infrastructure to establish Seosan as a healthy sports city.
During the discussion, a resident raising a young child expressed strong support for the winter and summer theme parks established in the Wangjeong-ri area, and requested improvements to the roads for better access to the sports theme park.
Since December last year, the city has been operating a "winter theme park" equipped with facilities such as an ice rink, ice tube slide, and snow playground, providing an experiential leisure space for the whole family to enjoy sports.
Another resident showed great interest in enjoying sports by requesting the speedy completion of the Seongyeon Technovalley outdoor sports facility.
The city plans to focus its administrative efforts this year on expanding various sports infrastructure, including the Seongyeon Technovalley outdoor sports facility, the National Sports Center for the Disabled, the Palbong National Sports Center, and the Seosan Climbing Center.

The city aims to complete the Seongyeon Technovalley outdoor sports facility, which will include a soccer field, basketball court, and futsal field, in the Wangjeong-ri 685 area within this year.
The National Sports Center for the Disabled, to be built in the Wangjeong-ri 688 area of Seongyeon-myeon, will be equipped with a gymnasium, fitness center, and multipurpose room so that people with disabilities can enjoy sports without inconvenience. The city aims to complete the detailed design this year.
In line with the era of 100-year lifespans, the Palbong National Sports Center is being steadily promoted with the goal of starting construction this year to improve citizens' health and address blind spots in sports accessibility.
Climbing, which has been adopted as an official Olympic sport, is seeing a steady increase in enthusiasts nationwide. The city plans to accelerate the construction of the Seosan Climbing Center with the goal of completion this year to further expand the base of sports for all.
Meanwhile, as a sports and healthy city, Seosan hosted the 76th Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Sports Festival last June at Seosan Sports Complex and other facilities, earning the honor of runner-up in a unifying event that strengthened the bonds among 15 cities and counties.
In particular, about 15,000 athletes and officials are expected to visit the city for the 31st Chungcheongnam-do Sports Festival for the Disabled, to be held in Seosan from May 29 to 31 this year, where fierce competition will unfold across a total of 22 events.
In addition, various suggestions and questions were raised during the conversation, including resolving parking issues at Seosan Technovalley commercial districts, expanding the right-turn lane from Osari to National Road No. 29, and establishing an eco-friendly resource recovery facility.
Mayor Lee Wan-seop said, "I will spare no effort to realize the wishes contained in each and every resident's valuable voice today," and added, "As a sports and healthy city responsible for citizens' health, we will expand various sports infrastructure and establish our status by attracting large-scale sports events."
