This program involves 100 second-year middle school students from Ulju-gun. Twenty-eight UNIST students will serve as mentors to the participants, providing opportunities to enhance scientific thinking skills and explore career paths.
The participating students will stay in the UNIST dormitory and attend English, math, and science classes with their mentors. Through the ‘STEAM project,’ where students define problems, design experiments, and present results, they will develop creative problem-solving skills. They will also have various experiential activities such as campus tours and sports activities.
An Ulju-gun official said, “We hope that through this science mentoring program, middle school students in Ulju-gun will nurture their dreams in science and grow into creative talents,” adding, “We will continue to prepare various local education programs to foster future talents.”
