President Yoon Suk-yeol was arrested by the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO), and singer JK Kim Dong-wook commented on this, calling it a "wise decision" and predicting that his approval ratings will rise.
On the 15th, JK Kim Dong-wook opened his statement on his social media service (SNS) account by saying, "A fight is not about fists flying and curses being hurled." He asserted, "Unlike the pro-North Korean forces who lose reason and randomly break the law, the will of our patriotic citizens who uphold the rule of law and protect freedom within the framework of the law in a constitutional state will move the whole world."
He continued, "I have no doubt in believing the president's unfortunate but wise decision, and this situation will surely be reflected in the skyrocketing approval ratings." He added, "I am confident that this week's research will surpass the 51% impeachment rate of former President Roh Moo-hyun," and encouraged, "From now on is the real starting point for setting the country right. Let's keep our spirits up."
Along with this, in his Story (24-hour public post), he said, "It's a bit funny to imagine the pro-North Korean forces experiencing a psychological victory." He said, "Those who break the law and intrude in a constitutional state are heading to the CIO without any armed conflict, and they are having a psychological victory." He added, "The people will come to know who the true insurgent forces are," emphasizing the figure '51%.'
JK Kim Dong-wook has voiced support for President Yoon through SNS. On the 3rd, he posted a photo of the Taegeukgi (Korean national flag) with the phrase "Protecting the president is the way to protect the country. CIO who?" inserted. Later, he revealed that his scheduled concert in Daegu on the 25th was canceled, lamenting, "The cancellation was due to absurd provocations by outsiders who filed complaints threatening to protest if the concert proceeded, not complaints from the attendees." Notably, on the 11th, he also used aggressive language, saying, "I will tear you apart."
Meanwhile, on the same day, the CIO and police deployed a large number of personnel and began executing the arrest warrant around 4:20 a.m. About 30 members of the People Power Party and President Yoon's lawyers formed a human chain to block the arrest and resisted for over an hour, but eventually, the third line of defense's iron gate was opened, and President Yoon's custody was secured. Immediately after the arrest, President Yoon boarded a security vehicle and was transported to the Government Complex Gwacheon CIO office in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province.
