Joguk Innovation Party: "Yoon Seok-yeol's Arrest Is Not the End... Kim Geon-hee Must Be Banned from Leaving the Country"

"She Could Be a Principal Instigator or Co-Perpetrator of the Rebellion"

The Joguk Innovation Party urged that, in order to resolve the emergency martial law situation on December 3, not only the arrest of President Yoon Seok-yeol but also investigations into First Lady Kim Geon-hee and measures to prohibit her from leaving the country must follow.

All members of the Joguk Innovation Party held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 15th, stating, "The arrest of President Yoon, the ringleader of the rebellion, is not the end. It is the starting point to rebuild democracy in the Republic of Korea," and added, "Follow-up measures must be firmly implemented. The rebellion must be thoroughly investigated, and President Yoon and his accomplices must be brought to justice."

The Joguk Innovation Party emphasized the need for an investigation into First Lady Kim. They said, "Above all, a full-scale investigation into First Lady Kim, who is a key figure in President Yoon's abuse of state power, must be conducted," and criticized, "First Lady Kim has already been repeatedly reported by civic groups for allegations including interference in the People Power Party's nomination process in the 22nd general election, illegal opinion polls, and omission of opinion poll accounting. She is essentially a comprehensive gift set of various suspicions."

They also pointed out the need to examine whether she was involved in President Yoon's acts of rebellion. They stated, "Since First Lady Kim is said to have had the greatest influence on President Yoon, the ringleader of the rebellion, the possibility of her involvement in the rebellion cannot be excluded," and added, "Depending on the investigation results, she could be revealed as a principal instigator or co-perpetrator of the rebellion."

The Joguk Innovation Party demanded that the Ministry of Justice impose a travel ban on First Lady Kim. They said, "The Ministry of Justice responded at last month's National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee that it would consider a travel ban on First Lady Kim, but currently, it cannot confirm whether such a measure has been implemented," and argued, "Even with President Yoon, the ringleader of the rebellion, arrested, there is a very high risk that First Lady Kim might flee abroad to evade legal judgment or destroy evidence related to the rebellion."

Furthermore, they emphasized, "The Joguk Innovation Party strongly urges the Ministry of Justice and investigative agencies to promptly impose a travel ban on First Lady Kim and conduct a full-scale investigation," and added, "We hope the Ministry of Justice and investigative agencies will not neglect their duties."
