Daitec Research Institute recently held a board meeting and announced on the 15th that Choi Jae-hong, former Head of the Management Planning Division (Deputy Director) at the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (Keit), has been appointed as the 6th President, succeeding Hong Seong-mu. The term of the new President Choi Jae-hong will be three years, from the 19th of this month until January 18, 2028.
President Choi Jae-hong is an expert in materials and fibers, having earned a bachelor's and master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Korea University, followed by a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering. Starting his career as a researcher at Samsung Electronics, he has accumulated extensive experience leading policy formulation and technology development for the advancement of the materials and fiber materials industry at major domestic institutions such as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (Keit).
His key career highlights include serving in the Basic Materials Industry Division and the Components and Materials General Division at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, as well as holding positions as Director of the Industrial Technology Development Division and the Export Industry Division. At the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, he held roles such as Head of the Business Planning Division, Head of the Management Planning Division, Head of the Key Industries Division, and Head of the Materials, Components, and Equipment Strategy Division, contributing significantly to the development of Korea’s advanced industries and technologies.
The Daitec Research Institute Board of Directors (Chairman Jo Sang-hyung) evaluated that President Choi Jae-hong possesses a broad understanding of the textile and new materials industries as well as strong policy planning capabilities, making him the right person to strengthen Daitec Research Institute’s global competitiveness and lead innovative strategies for the future.
President Choi Jae-hong stated, “I feel a heavy responsibility in taking on the important role of President at a time when Daitec Research Institute is preparing for a new leap forward based on its 30-year history,” adding, “I will do my best to enhance the organization’s capabilities, lead changes in the textile and new materials industries, and ensure that Daitec Research Institute establishes itself as a sustainable innovation institution.”
