"Claiming 'Yoon's Arrest Will Restore the Economy'"
Experienced All Martial Law Declarations Since the Founding of the Republic of Korea
President Yoon Seok-yeol, accused of leading the '12·3 Emergency Martial Law,' was arrested, and Park Ji-won, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized President Yoon with just one word. On the 15th, Park posted the two words "Shut up" on his social media service (SNS). This post was uploaded at 10:56 a.m. that day, right after President Yoon was arrested by the police and released a video statement.

At around 10:40 a.m. that day, President Yoon was arrested by the police at his residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and was transferred to the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province. Immediately after his arrest, President Yoon released a video message stating, "Unfortunately, the law in this country has completely collapsed," and added, "To prevent an unfortunate bloodshed, I have decided to comply with the CIO's summons."
Even after the arrest, Park posted another message questioning, "Now that President Yoon has been arrested, is there still a need for a special investigation into the insurrection?" He continued, "He may refuse to cooperate with the joint investigation team while saying he will undergo a special investigation, and since the special investigation team will be formed much later, isn't it possible that he could be released if things go wrong?" He added, "Although this is a calculation possible through political interpretation, urging a special investigation or a national audit in the National Assembly is a method that the opposition and political circles have used in the past to demand thorough prosecution investigations," emphasizing, "If the special investigation team is formed and activated, all investigation materials must be transferred to the special investigation team."
Earlier, on the 14th, Park also informed about the execution of the second arrest warrant for President Yoon on SNS, writing, "The arrest and detention of President Yoon is about the livelihood economy." In another subsequent post, he said, "Five junior lawmakers and I went to a Japanese restaurant in Yeouido, and although it was a busy place, we were the only customers," adding, "The owner pleaded, 'I can't stand this, it has to end quickly.'" He continued, "Our people need to be cheerful and spirited, and that vitality overcomes national crises," urging, "Please immediately take personnel measures against Kim Seong-hoon, Deputy Chief of Presidential Security Service, Lee Kwang-woo, Head of Security Headquarters, and Kim Shin, Chief of Family Affairs, to remove obstacles to the arrest scheduled for tomorrow."
Meanwhile, Park is a figure who has experienced all martial law declarations since the establishment of the Republic of Korea government in 1948. On the day of the '12·3 Emergency Martial Law,' he entered the National Assembly plenary session hall and participated in the vote on the resolution to lift the emergency martial law. Later, he became a topic of discussion after being spotted sitting in a chair in the plenary hall, exhausted and asleep.
