Mayor Park Hyeongdeok: "We Will Build a More Developed Dongducheon City"
Dongducheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyeong-deok) announced on the 15th that it has solidified its position as an outstanding local government nationwide through evaluations conducted by central government ministries and various organizations in 2024.
Last year, Dongducheon City was recognized for its administrative capabilities by achieving balanced results in various fields such as administration, finance, education, safety, and welfare.
Notably, it received the highest grade in the “2024 Comprehensive Information Disclosure Evaluation” conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, confirming its transparent and trustworthy administration. The evaluation results showed perfect scores in five indicators, including the number of pre-disclosed information registrations and the completeness of original document disclosures.
The city also stood out in financial management.
In the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s “2024 Local Finance Analysis Evaluation,” Dongducheon received the highest grade in the improvement category. In particular, the integrated fiscal balance ratio was 4.42% (national average -1.27%), and the unused fund ratio was 2.08% (national average 6.55%), reflecting sound and well-planned financial management.
Additionally, it was selected as the top institution in the first half of last year’s local finance execution evaluation.
The rapid execution rate in the first half was raised to 61.3%, 7% higher than the government target rate of 54.3%, and in the consumption and investment sectors closely related to the livelihood economy, 77.2 billion KRW was executed against the target of 59.9 billion KRW, greatly exceeding the goal.
The city also earned the honor of being selected as the best local government for three consecutive years in the “Water Facility Operation and Management” sector, which is closely related to citizens’ daily lives.
In the 2024 General Water Supply Business Operation and Management Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Environment, the city’s extensive promotional activities for expanding supply to water-vulnerable areas and supporting the improvement of water pipes in old houses were recognized as outstanding achievements.
Furthermore, Dongducheon enhanced its regional brand value by receiving the following awards: △ 2024 Good Policy Award for Lifelong Learning Cities by the National Lifelong Learning Cities Council △ 2024 Excellent Institution for Intensive Safety Inspections by Gyeonggi Province △ 2024 Good Design Award in the Brand Design category for excellent industrial design products (GD) by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion.
Moreover, the city achieved special accomplishments such as △ being selected as an excellent local government in the 2024 National Mind Investment Support Project evaluation by the Ministry of Health and Welfare △ receiving the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award in the Balanced Development Project Best Practice category △ being selected as an excellent institution in the 2024 Gyeonggi Province Winter Road Snow Removal Evaluation △ winning the Prime Minister’s Award at the 2024 Data-Based Regional Revitalization Project Performance Sharing Conference.
Mayor Park Hyeong-deok stated, “All the achievements made last year are the result of the joint efforts of citizens and public officials,” adding, “We will continue to realize administration that citizens can feel and create a more developed Dongducheon City.”
