Exporting 3 Tons of Strawberries to Hong Kong
under Gyeongbuk Integrated Fruit Brand ‘daily’
Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk's representative specialty product, strawberries, have entered the Hong Kong market under the Gyeongbuk integrated fruit brand ‘daily’.
The strawberry variety exported this time is Seolhyang, characterized by its high sugar content, firm flesh, and excellent freshness. It has also received pesticide-free certification and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) certification.
Among the strawberries exported under the daily brand, the pesticide-free certified strawberries are exclusively produced by Wooridul-en Agricultural Cooperative Corporation in Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk. Starting with the export of 400 boxes of 500g each, totaling 200kg, to Hong Kong on the 14th, the total volume of strawberries expected to be exported under the daily brand this year is about 3 tons.
The ‘daily brand’ strawberries are high-quality strawberries that meet the top-grade standards of the existing export strawberry k-berry, with a weight of 21g or more and a sugar content of 9 Brix or higher. Additionally, to preserve the quality of the strawberries, daily-exclusive packaging materials with improved box paper hardness and height are used, and in response to overseas consumer demands, the strawberries are packed in single-layer boxes containing two units (250g x 2 units).
As Goryeong strawberries, highly rated for their quality, are gaining great popularity not only domestically but also among overseas consumers, exporting under the Gyeongbuk integrated fruit brand daily is expected to strengthen competitiveness in the export market.
County Governor Namchul Lee said, “With Goryeong strawberries being exported for the first time under the daily brand, I believe they will gain greater competitiveness in overseas markets,” and added, “We will provide full support to showcase Goryeong, Gyeongbuk’s premium strawberries to consumers worldwide, not just in Hong Kong.”
