In particular, the next-generation integrated studio is equipped with facilities optimized for various purposes, including an XR studio utilizing virtual reality technology based on NDI (Network Device Interface), a multi-studio capable of producing diverse high-quality content through lecture-style writing and a white horizon studio, and an interactive studio that maximizes interaction between professors and students. Additionally, to foster students' creative capabilities, a Yu-tube studio and editing room for nurturing individual creators have been established, providing an environment where students can produce and present content themselves.
The opening of the Smart Education Center holds great significance as Yeungnam University has established advanced educational infrastructure to lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution era. It is expected to elevate the quality and competitiveness of education by providing students with a higher level of learning experience and supporting professors with an environment to realize innovative teaching methods.
President Choi Oechul of Yeungnam University said, “I would like to express my gratitude to all those involved who helped build the Smart Education Center. Today’s event will be an important milestone for educational innovation at Yeungnam University.” He added, “The Smart Education Center is not merely a collection of technologies but a space that can build an educational ecosystem supporting more creative education in a better learning environment. It will become a new educational platform in the era of AI and 3D educational content. We will continue to strive to provide the best education to Yeungnam University students in step with the changing times.”
Meanwhile, Yeungnam University has laid the foundation for remote and smart education starting with the opening of the Multimedia Support Center in 2002. In 2005, it was selected as the e-learning support center for universities in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk region, the first among private universities, and in 2015, it achieved 3rd place worldwide in the e-learning category of the 2014 Educational Innovation Awards from the Wharton School.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the university conducted all courses remotely without disruption based on excellent remote education technology. In 2023, it established a global standard lecture portal system and virtual servers based on big data and AI. From 2024, under the name Smart Education Center, it is leading a new paradigm in future education by building an innovative next-generation integrated studio and various educational support infrastructures.
