Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province is accepting applications for the 'Apartment Support Project' aimed at improving the residential environment of apartment complexes and the working conditions of laborers until February 7.

Hwaseong-si, Accepting Applications for 'Apartment Support Project' Until Next Month 7th

This year’s budget for the Apartment Support Project by category is ▲22.62 billion KRW for support in renovating common facilities ▲1.81 billion KRW for replacing old elevators ▲80 million KRW for improving rest facilities for security and cleaning workers ▲1.2 million KRW for air conditioner installation costs in security offices ▲190 million KRW for shared electricity fees in public rental housing ▲20 million KRW for promoting community life ▲34 million KRW for opening parking lots, among others.

The application period is from January 8 to February 7, and detailed project information and required documents can be found on the Hwaseong City website.

The city explained that it significantly strengthened support by increasing this year’s related project budget to 4.4 billion KRW, a 63% increase from last year’s 2.7 billion KRW, through amendments to the Apartment Management Ordinance. In particular, it added that the budget for support related to ▲relocation and installation of electric vehicle charging facilities ▲fire detectors and monitoring systems ▲sprinkler expansion ▲and suffocation fire extinguishers for underground parking lot fire prevention facilities is the largest scale in Gyeonggi Province.

The amended ordinance newly established the item 'Installation, maintenance, and repair of facilities for disaster and accident prevention,' expanding support for safety-related facilities such as replacement of old transformers in apartment complexes and fire prevention facilities for electric vehicles. For safety-related facilities such as underground parking lot fire prevention facilities, the ordinance stipulates that the elapsed years will not be applied as a condition for support projects.

Regarding the replacement construction cost for old elevators, reflecting strengthened elevator safety standards, the support amount is set at up to 120 million KRW per complex, but if the number of target elevators exceeds 12, an additional 10 million KRW per excess elevator can be provided.

Additionally, the re-support criteria for apartment complexes that previously received subsidies have been relaxed to 5 years for the same facilities and 3 years for different facilities, but reapplication is allowed without restrictions if it is for the safety of residents or to achieve public purposes.

Anseongjong, Director of the Housing Management Division of Hwaseong City, said, "We will continue to discover customized support policies reflecting residents’ voices and strive to create a pleasant and livable residential environment for citizens through continuous monitoring."
