The opened forest roads include 9,090 km managed by 27 national forest management offices across the country and 17,695 km managed by 226 local governments.
However, some sections will remain closed if heavy snow accumulation or ice makes vehicle passage difficult or if deemed unsafe.
The opening of forest roads will be flexibly determined based on local weather conditions. For more detailed information, inquiries can be made through the relevant city/province or national forest management office.
Im Sang-seop, head of the Korea Forest Service, stated, “We will ensure that visitors can use the forest roads conveniently and safely during the Lunar New Year holiday,” and added, “We ask forest road users to be cautious to prevent forest fires caused by forest damage, illegal burning, smoking, and other causes.”
