This agreement aims to environmentally treat the waste nutrient solution generated from the large-scale strawberry facility cultivation complex in the upper Jinyangho area. Jinju City plans to expand the waste nutrient solution treatment facilities that have been in operation since last year, while the National Horticultural Institute will disseminate and propose technologies for the reuse and recycling of waste nutrient solutions, which have been researched and accumulated over time.

Through the agreement ceremony, the two organizations laid the groundwork to strengthen a cooperative system to reduce pollution in Jinyangho, which serves as a water source for 900,000 people across seven cities and counties and is a special protection area for wildlife such as otters, thereby creating a healthy ecosystem. They also expect to reduce farmers’ fertilizer costs through the future recycling of nutrient solutions.

Officials from Jinju City and the National Horticultural Institute stated, “This agreement will play a significant role in improving the local water environment and achieving sustainable agricultural development,” adding, “We will strive to establish a leading model of eco-friendly agriculture and expand successful cases nationwide.”
