As of 9:19 AM on the 15th, Chips&Media was trading at 19,290 KRW, up 3,140 KRW (19.44%) compared to the previous trading day.

On the same day, Chips&Media announced that as a hardware IP (HW IP) development company, it will participate in the development and expansion of the APV (Advanced Professional Video) video codec ecosystem together with Samsung Electronics, Google, and Qualcomm.

APV is a next-generation video codec based on the IETF standard. It is a core technology that supports cinematic-quality video recording and post-production. Compared to existing video formats, it provides video quality without latency loss using 20% less storage, which is expected to meet the demand of prosumers who require high-quality professional-grade video shooting and post-production.

Chips&Media has started developing the encoder and decoder hardware (HW) IP, which are the core of the APV codec. The company plans to complete development by 2025 and aims for the world's first commercial launch. Chips&Media's technology has recently begun to be integrated into artificial intelligence (AI) PCs.

Kim Sang-hyun, CEO of Chips&Media, said, “Through APV HW IP, an opportunity has opened for our technology to be integrated into all Android-based devices, including smartphones for video recording, PCs and tablets for editing, and TVs and VR devices for playback.” He added, “This is significant as it represents an expansion of short-term sales volume following IP licensing for AI PCs, as well as an achievement in securing mid- to long-term global partnerships.”
