Seoul City and Life Insurance Association Expand Distribution of 'Sonmok Doctor 9988'

Life Insurance Association to Provide 2 Billion KRW Support
Assistance for Vulnerable Groups to Use the Service

The Seoul Metropolitan Government is collaborating with the Life Insurance Association to expand the use of the 'Sonmok Doctor 9988' service for vulnerable groups.

On the morning of the 15th, Seoul announced that it will hold a 'Joint Cooperation Agreement Ceremony' with the Life Insurance Association at Seoul City Hall to advance the Sonmok Doctor 9988 service. The ceremony will be attended by Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon, Life Insurance Association Chairman Kim Cheol-ju, and representatives from member companies of the association (Hanwha, Kyobo, Dongyang, KDB, Hana).

'Sonmok Doctor 9988' is a smart healthcare project launched by Seoul in 2021 that utilizes information and communication technology (ICT) to promote healthy lifestyle habits and improve citizens' health.

Seoul initiated this agreement through the Life Insurance Association member companies and the 'Life Insurance Social Contribution Committee' to respond to the entry into a super-aged society and the increase in chronic diseases. The Life Insurance Association, a non-profit corporation established for the growth and development of the insurance industry, works with a total of 31 member companies to support healthy lives for the public and foster a sound insurance culture.

Through this agreement, the Life Insurance Association will provide a total of 2 billion KRW in social contribution funds over the next three years to expand the 'Sonmok Doctor 9988' service. The funds will be used to distribute watches and support services that help vulnerable groups participate in 'Sonmok Doctor 9988' and manage their health. Plans have also been made to jointly promote research on the health improvement effects of 'Sonmok Doctor 9988,' campaigns to increase participant numbers, and to advance the service. A Seoul city official stated, "We plan to continuously work with the Life Insurance Association to discover programs and projects for the long-term development of the Sonmok Doctor 9988 service and the promotion of citizens' health."
