Yeonggwang County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 15th that it will implement a loan support program to expand city gas supply to households that are currently unable to use city gas.

Currently, individuals who wish to use city gas must pay a significant amount in initial costs, including facility contribution fees, connection pipe construction costs, and installation costs for gas user facilities and internal pipes.

Due to this financial burden, some households have hesitated to install city gas. However, with this new county support, the situation is expected to improve significantly.

The county will provide loans of up to 10 million won exclusively to owners of newly installed city gas facilities in the following categories: detached houses, multi-family houses, row houses, and apartment-style multi-unit residences.

The loan conditions are a maximum of 5 million won per household and 10 million won for social welfare facilities, with an annual interest rate of 1.5%. Borrowers can choose between a one-year grace period with two-year equal installment repayment, or a two-year grace period with three-year equal installment repayment.

To apply for support, applicants must prepare documents proving installation costs and a city gas supply confirmation, submit a loan recommendation application to the Energy Industry Office of Yeonggwang County Office, receive a recommendation letter, and then apply for a loan at NH Nonghyup Bank.

Lee Younggil, head of the Energy Industry Office, said, "By providing low-interest loans for the installation costs of city gas supply facilities to households feeling the financial burden of initial installation, we expect to expand the gas pipeline network and help residents reduce their fuel costs."
