[Exclusive] Shinbo Improves Small Business Management Diagnosis... Enhances Commercial Area Analysis

Additional Card Data Collected at Administrative Dong Level
Diversification of Consumer Pattern Analysis Metrics
"Scheduled for Implementation in the First Half of This Year"

The Small and Medium Business Corporation (SBC)'s management diagnosis service for small business owners and self-employed individuals, which provides not only corporate analysis but also free advice on management improvements, is expected to be enhanced within the first half of this year. SBC's goal is to offer improved customized consulting by advancing commercial district analysis in the areas where small business owners operate.

According to the "Research Report on Improving Management Diagnosis Services for Small Business Owners and Self-Employed" received on the 15th by the office of Lee Jung-moon, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, from SBC, SBC will expand the data collected for management diagnosis to enhance the commercial district analysis service. They have newly expanded data sources to include telecommunications, card, and Korea Real Estate Board data, with card data notably collected at the administrative dong level.

Enhances Commercial Area Analysis According to the "Research Report on Improving Management Diagnosis Services for Small Business Owners and Self-Employed" received by Rep. Lee Jung-moon of the Democratic Party of Korea from Shinbo, Shinbo plans to enhance its commercial area analysis services by expanding the data collected for management diagnosis. Previously, card data was not collected at the administrative dong level, but with this improvement, data will be collected by administrative dong and industry type. Non-financial data such as time of day, day of the week, corporate status, gender, age group, number of customers, number of merchants, and revisit rate, as well as financial items like total sales and transaction counts, will be available for small business owners to view at a glance. For living population data, new information related to foreigners will be added to the existing floating and resident population data. Korea Real Estate Board data will provide indicators related to commercial properties within the commercial district, such as vacancy rates, conversion rates, and rent per pyeong.

Based on this, consumer pattern analysis will also be diversified. Previously, accurate values could only be known for the small business owner's own business, and data related to similar businesses was limited to average values of companies that had consented to information use with SBC. However, with the addition of administrative dong card data, it will be possible to accurately know preferences (number of transactions), loyalty (revisit rate), and spending per transaction for similar businesses.

Additionally, small business owners will be able to access a new "Top 5 Commercial Districts" content that allows them to check sales and sales proportions not only in their own administrative dong but also in other administrative dongs. The content will be organized to show rankings based on five categories: customer spending amount, transaction unit price, corporate card usage ratio, offline payment ratio, and foreign population ratio. An SBC official stated, "We are currently developing to apply the results of this research project to the system, but nothing has been finalized yet," adding, "After development is completed, the improvements will be applied to the BASA (SBC Corporate Analysis System) portal."

SBC launched an AI management diagnosis service dedicated to small business owners in December 2023 through BASA, its own big data portal for enterprises. This service provides a diagnosis of the company's competitiveness combined with customized business environment analysis. As of last year, about 1,000 small business owners used the service. When a company applies for a diagnosis on the portal, it can be used immediately, and within 30 minutes after application, the company can check the management diagnosis results in the form of a report free of charge.
