The prosecution investigating the corruption case related to the Saemangeum solar power project has begun a forced investigation on Gunsan City Hall.
The Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office Joint Investigation Team for National Financial Crimes announced that they have been conducting a search and seizure at Gunsan City Hall in Jeonbuk since the morning of the 14th. It is known that the prosecution is searching the office of a Gunsan City Hall official involved in the Saemangeum solar power project corruption case.
Earlier, the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office indicted and detained a construction broker who received money under the pretext of requesting permits for the project, as well as a former aide to Shin Young-dae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, who received money under the pretext of securing construction contracts. Lawmaker Shin is accused of receiving about 100 million won in bribes from the representative of Gunsan Citizens Development Corporation to resolve complaints related to the solar power project. The prosecution requested an arrest warrant for Lawmaker Shin in October last year, but the National Assembly rejected the consent for arrest.
