AutoCha Research, Joint Hydrogen Engine Study with German Company

The Korea Automotive Technology Institute announced on the 14th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the German automotive engineering company FEV Group to jointly research hydrogen engine systems.

FEV, established in 1978 in Aachen, Germany, is recognized for its development of low-emission and low-consumption engines and systems, as well as design and development in energy technology, according to the institute. It has branches worldwide, including in the United States, China, and the United Arab Emirates.

Through this agreement, the two organizations will collaborate on international joint research and development of hydrogen engine systems supported by the Korean government. They also plan to jointly seek new research and development projects for carbon-neutral fuel power systems such as hydrogen, renewable synthetic fuels (e-fuel), and biofuels.

Na Seung-sik, president of the Korea Automotive Technology Institute, said, "Eco-friendly hydrogen engine technology presents a promising direction toward achieving carbon neutrality and a sustainable mobility society."
