Customized Measures to Improve Residents' Quality of Life
and Overcome Economic Hardships
Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is significantly expanding its public job projects in the second half of the 8th local government term to support residents who are struggling due to the downturn in the domestic economy.
The county plans to invest 11.1 billion KRW this year to provide public jobs to 2,475 people (2,085 senior jobs and 390 public work positions). This represents an increase of 210 people compared to last year's 2,265, aiming to greatly expand public job opportunities to help residents participate in society and stabilize their livelihoods.
The county is not only increasing numbers but also creating customized jobs in various fields that can provide practical help to residents' lives.
◆ Senior Job Projects, Providing New Vitality
Goseong-gun has entered a super-aged society with about 37% of its total population aged 65 or older. In response to this demographic change, the county is expanding senior job and social activity support projects as a solution to local issues such as economic hardship, social isolation, and health problems among the elderly. These projects provide not only economic support but also opportunities for social participation, enabling seniors to enjoy a healthy and active old age.
The senior job project will invest 8.7 billion KRW to provide jobs to 2,085 people across three areas: △ senior public interest activity jobs △ jobs utilizing senior capabilities △ operation of community project groups.
◆ Public Work Projects, Supporting Livelihoods and Reemployment Foundations
Goseong-gun is expanding the number of participants in public work projects by 10% annually to enhance the customized employment support system for vulnerable groups, a pledge of the 8th local government term. This aims to support the livelihoods of low-income and other vulnerable groups and lay the foundation for reemployment.
This year, the public work project plans to invest 2.4 billion KRW to provide jobs to a total of 390 people, recruiting 205 in the first half (February to June) and 185 in the second half (August to December).
The recruitment fields include △ environmental maintenance △ administrative assistance △ support for vulnerable employment groups. Participants will support the county’s public service tasks to provide residents with a pleasant environment and better services.
These efforts by Goseong-gun are expected to greatly help improve residents’ quality of life and overcome economic difficulties. The county plans to continue discovering various public job opportunities and expand these projects further.
County Governor Sang-geun Lee said, “The 8th local government term of Goseong-gun prioritizes improving residents’ quality of life,” adding, “We will continue to expand various job projects that reflect the voices of our residents.”
