Gyeonggi Suwon City will conduct special monitoring of environmental pollution activities targeting emission workplaces and businesses in areas with frequent civil complaints from the 20th to the 31st of this month, which includes the Lunar New Year holiday.
On the 14th, Suwon City announced that it plans to patrol nearby rivers of emission workplaces to monitor illegal activities such as unauthorized wastewater discharge and neglect of malfunctioning emission facilities.
In addition, by requesting voluntary inspections, the city aims to encourage self-management of workplaces to prevent environmental pollution in advance, and will operate a control room from the 28th to the 30th to prepare for environmental pollution accidents.
Suwon City will provide rewards for reports that lead to administrative actions against environmental pollution activities. If unauthorized wastewater discharge or environmental pollution accidents occur, report them to 128 (for mobile phones, dial 128 with the area code) or the Environmental Policy Division (031-228-3899, 2222).
A Suwon City official said, "We will do our best to monitor environmental pollution activities so that citizens can have a safe holiday," and urged, "Please report if you discover unauthorized wastewater discharge or environmental pollution accidents."
