Boryeong City, a Carbon-Neutral City, Holds Major Business Briefing for This Year

Boryeong City, Chungnam Province, announced on the 14th that it held a major business plan briefing session on the 13th to review last year's municipal achievements and discuss this year's operational direction and key policy initiatives.

Approximately 70 people attended the briefing, including Mayor Kim Dongil, department heads at City Hall, and heads of towns, townships, and districts.

The achievements highlighted at the briefing included: securing 511.5 billion KRW in government funding for 2025; designation as a Carbon Neutral Energy Opportunity Development Zone; selection as a leading city for carbon neutrality; achieving an 'Excellent' grade in the only Local Extinction Response Fund in Chungnam; signing an MOU for the Gold City project; successfully hosting three major marine mega events; Boryeong Mud Festival receiving the Korea Brand Grand Prize (Prime Minister's Award); winning the 'Korea Creative Management 2024' award for three consecutive years; opening of the urban planning road between Myeongcheon Samgeori and Boryeong City Hall; opening of the Boryeong Badminton Stadium; and Boryeong Rice Samgwangmi Gold winning the 'Korea Representative Brand Grand Prize' for five consecutive years.

This year, the city has established three core strategies under the vision of 'The Heart of Carbon Neutrality in Korea! Boryeong.'

The three core strategies are: advancing new growth industries to build a 'carbon-neutral energy and new marine leading city'; creating a 'livable and vibrant city' based on a strong economic foundation; and 'enhancing urban dignity' through friendly and clear administration.

The city also plans to pursue 22 key projects, including expanding the practice of being a leading carbon-neutral city, supporting the successful settlement of the Opportunity Development Zone, providing administrative support following the completion of the Future Mobility Demonstration Center, and hosting the Year of Visiting Chungnam in Boryeong.

Mayor Kim Dongil stated, "2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the integration of Boryeong-gun and Daecheon-si, and is also a crucial time to wrap up policies that have continued from the 6th and 7th to the 8th popularly elected administrations. Despite political and economic challenges, I am grateful for the tangible achievements each department has made, and I urge everyone to continue working hard this year to further improve the quality of life for our citizens."
