Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) announced that it will hold the 'Seol Holiday Agricultural and Marine Specialty Products Direct Market' at the Geumcheon-gu Office Plaza from 10 a.m. on the 16th to 5 p.m. on the 17th in celebration of the Lunar New Year.
The direct market was organized to help residents prepare for the Lunar New Year by selling excellent specialty products and holiday ritual items at affordable prices, and to promote mutual growth with farming communities.
This market features participation from Geumcheon-gu’s sister cities: Namhae-gun in Gyeongnam, Goheung-gun in Jeonnam, Hoengseong-gun in Gangwon, Cheongyang-gun in Chungnam, and Jincheon-gun in Chungbuk. Additionally, farming households from Chungju-si, Gongju-si, Seosan-si, and Gokseong-gun, which are part of the urban-rural exchange areas of local community centers, will also participate, showcasing a total of 19 farms from 9 local governments with a richer and more distinctive selection of specialty products.
Participating vendors will sell over 120 different specialty products and holiday ritual items, including domestic salted seafood, sauces, rice cake soup rice cakes, red pepper powder, organic eggs, Oranda (Dutch candy), and apple bread, at prices up to 30% lower than market prices. By accessing the QR code on the promotional materials, customers can check the list of items for sale.
During the market operation period, from 2 p.m. until the day’s prizes run out, a 100% winning roulette event will be held for direct market users. Customers who purchase a total of 50,000 won or more at the market can participate once in the event area next to the market by presenting their purchase receipt.
Prizes include a 3-fold folding umbrella, a 5,000 won Onnuri gift certificate, hand warmers, a shopping bag that doubles as a recycling bag, and pens.
Yoo Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the district office, we have prepared an even more abundant direct market. We hope many people visit to purchase agricultural and marine specialty products from all over the country at good prices and have a prosperous holiday.”
