Geumcheon-gu Signs Free Land Use Agreement with Yoido Full Gospel Church
... Plans to Create a Large-Scale Forest Recreational Space of Approximately 250,000㎡
... Located in the Southwestern Area Included in Course 12 of the Seoul Dulle-gil Trail for Easy Access
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it has laid the groundwork for creating a forest recreational space equivalent to 34 soccer fields by signing a free land use agreement with Yoido Full Gospel Church.
Through the agreement with the landowner, Yoido Full Gospel Church, the district can use approximately 250,000㎡ of land located at San 6-7, Siheung 3-dong, Geumcheon-gu free of charge.
Just as the northern Seoul area is represented by the "Dream Forest," the district plans to create the "Forest of Hope" (tentative name) on this land to represent southern Seoul. In cooperation with Seoul City, by 2028, they will establish forest camping sites, forest bathing areas, and barrier-free forest trails, transforming the area into a large forest recreational space where residents can experience and relax in the forest.
The land is located at the gateway to the southwestern region, bordering Gyeonggi-do and Seoul, and is included in Course 12 of the Seoul Dulle-gil Trail. Once the forest recreational space is developed, it will be easily accessible not only to Geumcheon residents but also to nearby community members.
Through this forest recreational space project, the district plans to expand the area of walkable parks within the region and increase green infrastructure for residents, realizing a green city where nature can be felt even in the urban environment.
Meanwhile, last July, the district proposed free land use to Yoido Full Gospel Church in a way that fosters coexistence with the landowner. After about ten meetings, the free land use contract was signed with Yoido Full Gospel Church on December 24 of last year.
The agreement ceremony was held on January 9 at Yoido Full Gospel Church, attended by about ten officials including Geumcheon-gu Mayor Yu Seong-hoon and Pastor Lee Young-hoon of Yoido Full Gospel Church.
Pastor Lee Young-hoon said, "Through this agreement, I hope the forest recreational space to be created in the Siheung-dong area will offer residents new rest and cultural value."
Geumcheon-gu Mayor Yu Seong-hoon expressed gratitude, saying, "We thank Yoido Full Gospel Church for providing the land for the local community," and added, "We will effectively utilize the secured land through this agreement to expand green infrastructure and transform Geumcheon into a green city."
