"Resident Reporting System" Implemented
Namwon City in North Jeolla Province will focus on cracking down on illegal parking and stopping in six designated prohibited areas.
According to the city on the 13th, the six illegal parking and stopping prohibited areas are sidewalks, bus stops, street corners at intersections, crosswalks, children's protection zones, and areas around fire hydrants.

Currently, the city is conducting intensive crackdowns on illegal parking and stopping in major downtown areas such as the public market and Nammun-ro odd-even system using fixed CCTV and mobile vehicle CCTV. In addition, after a guidance period, the city plans to install illegal parking CCTV and strengthen enforcement on the newly constructed sidewalk section of Dongmun-ro in Namwon.
The city is also implementing a resident reporting system that allows citizens to directly report illegal parking and stopping in the six prohibited areas. To report, citizens can take two photos at one-minute intervals at the same location and submit them via the Safety Sinmungo smartphone app.
Based on the reported information, the city will review whether the case is subject to enforcement and impose fines ranging from 40,000 to 120,000 won. However, among the six prohibited areas under the resident reporting system, the children's protection zone applies only to the area in front of elementary school main gates, so citizens are urged to pay special attention.
A city official said, "In order to maintain traffic order and prevent traffic accidents, we are intensively cracking down on illegal parking and stopping in major sections of Namwon, and also implementing the resident reporting system. We ask for the active interest and cooperation of citizens so that a sound parking culture can be established in the city."
