Namyangju City Expands Support for Daycare Centers... Leading Efforts to Improve Childcare Environment Namyangju City Hall view. Provided by Namyangju City.

This measure aims to reduce the burden of heating and cooling expenses for childcare centers due to frequent rapid temperature changes in winter and summer caused by climate change, and to improve the treatment of childcare center directors who are struggling to operate due to the declining birth rate.

Heating and cooling expenses will be supported differentially from a minimum of 400,000 KRW to a maximum of 850,000 KRW depending on the size of the childcare center's capacity, with an increase of 100,000 KRW per center compared to last year.

In particular, the city expanded the support target from the previous childcare center evaluation grade B or higher to all childcare centers participating in the evaluation system, so that more childcare centers can benefit.

Namyangju City will raise the childcare center director treatment improvement expenses, which had been frozen since 2011, from the existing 30,000 KRW per month to 50,000 KRW per month to boost the morale of childcare center directors who are facing financial difficulties in operation due to the decrease in the number of children caused by the declining birth rate. The support target is the same as that for heating and cooling expenses.

Yang Hyun-mo, Director of Welfare, emphasized communication with the childcare field, stating, “We plan to seek and improve various support measures so that high-quality childcare services can be provided at the frontline childcare sites.”
