Word of Mouth Since Its Launch in September Last Year
Nongshim's 'Shin Ramyun Tumba' has sold over 17 million units within three months since its launch in September last year, gaining popularity through word of mouth. Shin Ramyun Tumba is a product that recreates the popular modisumer recipe 'Shin Ramyun Toowoomba,' which is made by adding milk, cheese, shrimp, bacon, and more to Shin Ramyun. As this recipe has been popular for years, Nongshim released 'Shin Ramyun Tumba Big Bowl Noodles' to allow consumers to enjoy it more conveniently. Since then, the product line has expanded to include bagged noodles, continuing its success.
Shin Ramyun Tumba builds on the spicy flavor of Shin Ramyun by adding the rich and savory tastes of fresh cream, cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese, creating a unique spicy and creamy texture. The addition of ingredients such as mushrooms, garlic, and bok choy enhances its completeness. It is also microwaveable, allowing consumers to enjoy an even richer sauce flavor.
Encouraged by domestic consumer support for Shin Ramyun Tumba, Nongshim is actively launching the product in overseas markets. Since November last year, local production and retailer listings have begun in the United States, and exports to Asian and Middle Eastern regions such as Taiwan, Malaysia, and Saudi Arabia are planned by the end of this year. Additionally, the product is scheduled to be launched across Europe, including the United Kingdom and Germany, in March this year.
Meanwhile, Nongshim has appointed Chef Edward Lee, who gained attention by appearing on the Netflix cooking survival program 'The Big Brunch: Culinary Class War,' as the model for Shin Ramyun Tumba. Through Chef Edward Lee’s unique culinary philosophy that fuses Korean and Western food cultures, Nongshim plans to introduce new ways to enjoy Shin Ramyun Tumba with various toppings. Edward Lee said, “The changes Shin Ramyun presents are innovative. It challenges newness while never losing the original taste of Shin Ramyun,” adding, “I hope people create memories with their loved ones by enjoying Shin Ramyun Tumba, a creamy reinterpretation of Shin Ramyun, in various delicious ways.”
