Homeless Man Caught Stealing Large Mart Cart... Secretly Living on Emergency Stairs

A homeless person who stole carts from a large supermarket and lived in the emergency stairs of a poorly managed building was caught by the police.

The Dongdaemun Police Station in Seoul announced on the 13th that they had urgently arrested Mr. A on charges of trespassing and theft.

Mr. A is suspected of sleeping on the emergency stairs around 7 a.m. on the 6th and stealing 50 supermarket carts placed in the underground parking lot. The police moved the 50 confiscated carts to the police station.

A police official said, "Since the 3rd, we immediately removed fire hazard materials such as waste paper piled up by homeless people and strengthened preventive patrols, which enabled us to arrest Mr. A," adding, "We will strive to secure cases proactively through not only 112 emergency calls but also active preventive activities."
