Ulsan Office of Education Provides Customized Support for New Semester Neulbom School Preparation

Expansion to 2nd Grade in Elementary Schools Starting This Year
Inspection Team Formed to Seek School Support Measures

The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Chang-su) announced on the 13th that it will operate an on-site inspection team before the start of the new semester to expand the operation of Neulbom School this year.

Neulbom School is a customized care and after-school program available to any elementary school student who wishes to participate.

Last year, the Ulsan Office of Education operated 24 Neulbom pilot schools in the first semester and expanded the program to all elementary schools (121 schools) and special schools (2 schools) in the second semester. This year, the program will be expanded to 1st and 2nd graders in elementary school, and next year it plans to cover all grades.

The inspection team is composed of the Deputy Superintendent as the head, officials from the Education Innovation Division’s Teacher Cooperation and After-School Team of the Ulsan Office of Education, and members of the Neulbom School Support Teams from the Gangbuk and Gangnam Education Support Centers.

The inspection team will visit schools to check the status of demand surveys, spaces and facilities, staff, program operation and instructor status, and safety management. They will listen to on-site opinions and seek support measures to ensure the stable operation of Neulbom School.

First, they plan to inspect 35 schools with 31 or more classes this month, and the remaining schools will be checked using non-face-to-face methods such as phone calls. Schools requiring intensive support will receive a second on-site visit in February.

Earlier, on the 8th, the Ulsan Office of Education, along with officials from the Ministry of Education, visited Goheon Elementary School and Okdong Elementary School, which have more than 35 classes, to check the preparation status of Neulbom School.

An official from the Ulsan Office of Education said, “We will strengthen customized support for each school by reflecting the voices from the school field during the preparation process for Neulbom School in the new semester.”
