Kim Dong-yeon: "Acting Chief Choi Sang-mok Should Have Appointed All Constitutional Court Justices... Increasing Economic Uncertainty"

Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, claimed that the partial appointment of Constitutional Court justices by Choi Sang-mok, Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, was wrong.

On the 13th, at a '2025 New Year Press Conference' held at a restaurant in Suwon, Governor Kim said, "(Acting Prime Minister Choi) should have appointed all three Constitutional Court justices," emphasizing, "Because the president's appointment of the justices recommended by the National Assembly is formal and procedural."

Therefore, he pointed out, "It is extremely wrong for the president or acting president to do this (appoint only 2 out of 3) based on the content."

In particular, he added, "To end the internal rebellion and illegal martial law, it is important for Acting Prime Minister Choi, as Minister of Economy, to quickly eliminate economic uncertainties," and "However, seeing this appointment of justices, I think Acting Prime Minister Choi has made a wrong first step in removing uncertainties."
