A Couple Distributing Flyers in an Apartment Caught Red-Handed Stealing a Package

A couple who habitually stole delivery packages delivered to other people's homes while working part-time posting flyers was handed over to the prosecution.

On the 13th, Cheongju Cheongwon Police Station announced that they had arrested Mr. A (50) on charges of special theft and sent him to prosecution, while his wife Ms. B (46) was sent to prosecution without detention. The couple is accused of stealing delivery packages worth about 1.6 million won in 26 instances over approximately one month from December 2 last year, targeting 12 apartment complexes in Cheongju, Daejeon, and Chungnam areas.

The couple was investigated to have stolen delivery packages placed at apartment unit entrances while working part-time posting flyers on apartment doors.

After receiving a report from a victim on December 31 last year, the police launched an investigation and, through reviewing local closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, arrested them at their residence in Daejeon within four days.

During the police investigation, the couple stated that they committed the crimes due to financial difficulties. It is known that Mr. A has a prior record of similar offenses.
