SEMI holds 'High Tech U' program
to foster semiconductor talent in Korea
SEMI (formerly the International Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Association) announced on the 13th that it held the talent development program 'SEMI High Tech U' to strengthen the competitiveness of our semiconductor industry on the 9th. This event was conducted in partnership with the Gyeonggi-do Office of Education Future Science Education Center.

'SEMI High Tech U' is a representative talent development program that has been held in major overseas semiconductor regions for the past 20 years. This Korean event was held for 25 high school students in the Gyeonggi area.
The lecture featured Byun Young-sam, former CEO of SK Siltron, Jang In-jung, Executive Director of Lam Research Korea, and Choi Jae-sung, Vice President of ASML Korea. They explained semiconductor concepts, history and industrial importance, and career development plans.
Additionally, the students visited the Samsung Electronics Pyeongtaek campus, a SEMI member company, to experience the semiconductor production site firsthand.

Last year, SEMI achieved participation of about 7,000 people through programs supporting basic technical education and career development for university students. SEMI expects about 8,000 participants this year.
A SEMI talent development official said, "To resolve the semiconductor talent shortage that South Korea is experiencing and to strengthen industrial competitiveness, we will continuously expand and operate programs like SEMI High Tech U."
SEMI is headquartered in Silicon Valley, USA, and operates branches in several countries worldwide, including Korea, Taiwan, and Belgium. About 3,000 companies in the semiconductor manufacturing sector participate as member companies.
