Yoon Sang-hyun: "Constitutional Court Rapidly Advances Impeachment Trial for Lee Jae-myung"

Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, claimed that "the Constitutional Court is rapidly proceeding with the impeachment trial of President Yoon Seok-yeol for the benefit of Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea."

On the 12th, Yoon posted on his social media account, "The Republic of Korea is in crisis. This crisis began when Lee Jae-myung, the father of the Democratic Party, took control of the party and established a legislative dictatorship system." He said, "Lee has turned the Democratic Party into a personal faction and used the National Assembly as a tool to erase his judicial risks," adding, "This is a legislative dictatorship and an unconstitutional act that disrupts the balance of the separation of powers."

He continued, "Now, Lee Jae-myung's party fears nothing. Both judicial and investigative agencies are practically bowing their heads before their leader Lee Jae-myung, waiting for orders," and criticized, "They succeeded in the impeachment prosecution under the pretext of the December 3 emergency martial law, and once their goal was achieved, they quietly removed the charge of rebellion from the Constitutional Court's impeachment prosecution. They make a disgraceful excuse by separating constitutional violations from criminal law violations and only considering the constitutional violations, but this is nothing more than a trick to blind and deafen the people."

He added, "Their goal is to hold the presidential election as soon as possible before Lee Jae-myung's guilt is confirmed and seize power," and said, "Lee Jae-myung's party has completely paralyzed the judicial, administrative, and legislative functions of the entire country to achieve this one goal. As a result, the lives of our people have become increasingly impoverished."

Yoon said, "Looking back at the 2016 impeachment of President Park Geun-hye, the Constitutional Court did not conduct a trial based on clear evidence but rather carried out a public opinion trial disguised as the will of the people. There is no guarantee that this will not happen again," and pointed out, "The Constitutional Court has neglected to handle more than ten impeachment cases already filed. While the court is slow in these cases, it is rapidly proceeding with President Yoon's impeachment trial." He emphasized, "What is the rush to proceed so hastily? This is why there are rumors that the impeachment trial is being rushed to save Lee Jae-myung before two constitutional justices retire on April 18."

Furthermore, he raised his voice, saying, "There is nothing normal about the actions of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) conducting investigations without investigative authority, judges shopping for arrest warrants from politically biased judges outside their jurisdiction, including content in arrest warrants that infringe on legislative powers, not guaranteeing the legally mandated 180-day hearing period in the Constitutional Court trial, and collusion between the National Police Agency and Democratic Party lawmakers." Finally, he said, "What a normal democratic society guarantees to every citizen of the Republic of Korea is fairness in law and procedure," and added, "What I hope for is nothing more than that President Yoon Seok-yeol is fairly judged through law and procedure."
