Presenting Creative and Innovative Ideas
Haesong Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd., the project corporation for the Shinan offshore wind project of global green energy investment and development company CIP (Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners), announced on the 13th that it successfully held the "2024 Offshore Wind Power Shared Collaboration Capstone Design Competition" at Amid Hotel Seoul on the 9th, together with seven universities from the Honam and Jeju regions with which it has industry-academia cooperation agreements.
This competition, now in its third year, was held to discover outstanding ideas from future talents who will lead Korea's offshore wind industry and to broaden understanding and awareness of offshore wind among universities, companies, and local communities. Haesong Offshore Wind Power signed a joint operation agreement for capstone design with seven universities in the Honam and Jeju regions through the third-phase industry-academia-research cooperation leading university development project in November 2022. In addition to the idea competition, it has been conducting lectures and mentoring sessions on offshore wind market trends and basic theory every spring and fall. So far, a total of 53 teams and 280 participants have taken part in the program.

At the competition, a total of 10 teams from Mokpo National University, Dongshin University, Mokpo Maritime University, Woosuk University, Jeonju University, Jeju National University, and Honam University presented creative and innovative ideas they have developed over the past year for the future of the offshore wind industry.
The judging panel, composed of Haesong Offshore Wind Power executives and staff, evaluated the ideas based on completeness, effectiveness, originality, and expected impact. The "Baramgaebi" team from Mokpo Maritime University was selected as the grand prize winner for their presentation on "CTV Development Using Surface Effect Ships." The top excellence award went to the ETT team from Mokpo National University and the BTS team from Jeju National University. Excellence awards were given to the Offshore Wind team and K202 team from Mokpo National University, the WBT team from Jeonju University, and the EFFI team from Honam University. The winning teams received a total prize of 5 million KRW.
Going forward, Haesong Offshore Wind Power plans to continue fostering talent in offshore wind and contributing to local community development by consistently holding offshore wind lectures, mentoring, and idea competitions for future generations.

Meanwhile, Haesong Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd. has obtained a power generation business license for a total of 1.0GW offshore wind project in Shinan, Jeonnam, and is awaiting final approval of the environmental impact assessment. CIP is developing offshore wind projects with a total capacity of over 50GW in 15 countries, including Korea and Taiwan.
