Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun and Heads of Three Busan Innovation Districts Gather Together

Busan City to Strengthen Coexistence, Development, and Cooperation
with Relocated Public Institutions

A meeting of heads of public institutions that have relocated their headquarters to Busan to discuss coexistence, innovation, and cooperation with local governments will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the 13th in the main conference room of Busan City Hall.

Busan City announced on the 13th that Mayor Park Hyung-jun will preside over the "Busan Innovation City Relocated Public Institution Heads Meeting."

This meeting was organized to review the current status of Busan Innovation City and discuss ways for the city and relocated public institutions to achieve mutual development.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun will participate, along with representatives from 13 public institutions relocated to the three innovation districts of Busan Innovation City?Dongsam, Munhyeon, and Centum?and the Korea Technology Finance Corporation. The meeting will focus on cooperation strategies for Busan to leap forward as a global hub city.

The attending public institutions include key organizations in the maritime, finance, and cultural sectors such as the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology, Korea Maritime Institute, National Oceanographic Research Institute, National Fisheries Products Quality Management Service, Korea Asset Management Corporation, Korea Securities Depository, and Housing and Urban Guarantee Corporation.

During the meeting, participants will review the achievements of the three innovation districts and share opinions on future development directions. The Dongsam Innovation District focuses on fostering new industries to become a global maritime central city, Munhyeon Innovation District leads digital financial innovation, and Centum Innovation District is dedicated to developing Busan as a global hub for film and video content.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated at the meeting, "We can turn the current economic uncertainties into new opportunities," and added, "I hope public institutions actively cooperate so that Busan can grow into a global hub city."

He also emphasized the need to break away from concentration in the metropolitan area and strengthen local decentralization to reshape the national structure.

A key topic of discussion at this meeting is the 'RISE' project, which aims to enhance cooperation between regional universities and public institutions to cultivate outstanding talent and increase the employment rate of local talent.

The RISE project aims to establish a practical talent development system by combining educational resources of regional universities with the practical experience of public institutions through a regional innovation-centered university support system. This plan supports young people in finding quality jobs in Busan and creates a virtuous cycle where public institutions can systematically hire local talent.

Mayor Park expressed his hope that "each institution will cooperate so that Busan can establish itself as an important base leading regional innovation and further take the lead in strengthening local decentralization."
