Yangju City has recently recorded one of the highest taxi demands nationwide due to rapid population growth from new town developments, but the supply has not kept pace, causing ongoing inconvenience for citizens.

In particular, the shortage of taxis during late-night hours has been identified as a major complaint among residents.

Accordingly, during this visit, the city proposed practical solutions to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, including △expansion of late-night taxi operations △improvement of taxi total volume system guidelines △strengthening of public transportation linkage.

Following this, a meeting was held to continue discussions on mid- to long-term measures, such as resolving the chronic imbalance between demand and supply during specific time periods.

Yangju City expects that if this proposal is accepted, it will alleviate the late-night taxi shortage in the area and enhance transportation convenience.

A Yangju City official stated, “To respond to the rapidly increasing taxi demand and late-night taxi boarding difficulties, we will actively cooperate with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to resolve citizens’ inconveniences and do our best to establish a safe and convenient public transportation environment.”

Meanwhile, the city is not only strengthening cooperation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport but is also pursuing measures to increase taxi operation rates within the region through △expanding incentives for transportation operators △collaboration with private taxi companies.
