Ya 6 Party, Moves to Expel Kim Min-jeon Who Arranged 'Baekgoldan' National Assembly Press Conference

"Bringing the Ghost of the Dictatorship Regime into the National Assembly"

The six opposition parties, including the Democratic Party of Korea, have decided to push for the expulsion of Kim Min-jeon, a member of the People Power Party, who arranged a National Assembly press conference for the "Anti-Communist Youth Group," known as the "Baekgoltan."

Cho Seung-rae, the chief spokesperson for the Democratic Party, held a press conference at the National Assembly on the 10th and said, "How dare you bring the Baekgoltan, a name for political thugs during the Liberal Party era and a nickname for the plainclothes arrest squads of the dictatorship regime, into the National Assembly?" He urged, "If the People Power Party is a legitimate political party, immediately impose severe disciplinary action on Representative Kim, who brought the specter of the dictatorship regime into the National Assembly."

Regarding Kim’s intention to withdraw the press conference, he added, "Can the issue disappear just because he says he will withdraw after already spewing words that are beyond control?" He emphasized, "The fact that the Baekgoltan was brought into the National Assembly, the hall of popular sovereignty, will never be erased."

Cho also criticized, "What is even more outrageous is that Kim posted on his social media that the Baekgoltan is a 'spy' operation by the Democratic Party, shifting the blame," and said, "It is truly despicable to commit such an act and then blame others."

He continued, "While the instigator of the rebellion, Yoon Seok-yeol, is still holed up in the presidential residence inciting armed conflict, Kim is not only promoting rebellion but also turning politics into a comedy," and said, "If the People Power Party is a legitimate political party, immediately impose severe disciplinary action on Representative Kim Min-jeon, who brought the specter of the dictatorship regime into the National Assembly."

On the same day, Han Jun-ho, a Supreme Council member of the same party, raised his voice at the party’s Supreme Council meeting, saying, "It is shocking that such a violent organization was created just to protect one criminal, and Representative Kim of the People Power Party brought them into the National Assembly and even held a press conference. It seems completely insane."

Lee Jun-seok, a member of the Reform New Party, sarcastically commented on his social media, "In the past, people were suspended from party membership for a year for using terms like 'sheep’s head, dog’s meat' and 'new military regime,' so why is bringing the Baekgoltan into the National Assembly not subject to disciplinary action?"

The six opposition parties decided to submit a resolution to the National Assembly this afternoon, urging the expulsion of Representative Kim.
