Six New Technical Consultants Selected for 2025,
Total of 16 Now in Operation
POSCO operates a ‘Technical Consultant’ system utilizing retired employees to preserve skilled technology and systematically transfer on-site know-how.
This system is designed so that experts can be re-employed for up to five years after retirement, allowing them to effectively pass on their accumulated experience and expertise to younger employees.
Applicants for the Technical Consultant position must be recommended by their supervising executive and pass evaluations of their professional capabilities and work attitude, with final qualification approval granted by a review committee.
Unlike general rehires, these consultants focus on ‘technology transfer,’ and their salary levels and contract renewals are determined annually based on performance and achievement evaluations.
This year, at the Pohang Steelworks, Master Technician Lee Kyung-jae and Deputy General Manager Park Jae-yeol from the EIC Technology Department, along with Manager Kim Young-gon from the Equipment Technology Department, were newly selected as Technical Consultants.
In 2025, including three new consultants from the Gwangyang Steelworks, a total of 16 Technical Consultants will pass on their accumulated expertise to junior employees.
Through this system, POSCO aims to respect skilled on-site technical personnel and ensure that their long-standing experience and knowledge contribute to the company’s sustainable development. Additionally, POSCO plans to establish a foundation for all employees to grow by continuously improving on-site operations and fostering a technology development environment.
