From Birth After January 1, 2024 to Age 18

Muan County in Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) will provide a basic birth allowance of 200,000 KRW per month for children born on or after January 1, 2024, in order to overcome the low birth rate crisis and reduce economic burdens.

According to the county on the 10th, the basic birth allowance is a subsidy jointly prepared by Jeollanam-do and Muan County, providing 200,000 KRW per child per month (100,000 KRW from Jeollanam-do and 100,000 KRW from Muan County). However, for children born in 2024, if at least one of the newborn or guardian has resident registration in Jeollanam-do at the time of birth registration, they are eligible to apply. From the time of allowance application, both the newborn and the guardian must have resident registration in Jeollanam-do and actually reside there to receive support.

Applications can be conveniently submitted from one month prior to the child's first birthday by visiting the local eup or myeon office according to the address or through the online platform 'Government24'. The basic birth allowance is paid on the 25th of each month.

The county expects that this basic birth allowance policy will reduce the economic burden on families with newborns and have a positive impact on the birth rate and population growth in Muan County.

Governor Kim San stated, "The basic birth allowance is a policy designed to provide practical support to families with newborns and to create an environment conducive to raising children," and added, "We will continue to make Muan County a great place to raise children through various population policies."

Meanwhile, the number of newborns in Muan County in 2024 was 547, an increase of 16% compared to the previous year (470 newborns in 2023). As of the end of December 2024, the population of Muan County was 92,687, with the population continuing to increase due to the move-in of Oryong 2 District and other factors.
