Jeonnam Police to Offer 'Report Reward' to 112 Callers

Up to 1 Million Won Reward
for Significant Contributions to Crime Prevention

The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency (Commissioner Mo Sangmyo) announced on the 10th that a new "112 Caller Reward System" will be introduced, allowing 112 callers to receive rewards even if the perpetrator is not apprehended.

This reward system provides up to 1 million won to 112 callers who have made significant contributions to preventing crime or protecting the lives, bodies, or property of others through a 112 call. It was established in accordance with the "Act on the Operation and Handling of 112 Calls," which has been in effect since July last year.

However, to prevent indiscriminate applications, rewards will not be paid or will be reduced for duplicate reports, matters already disclosed to the media, or anonymous or pseudonymous reports. The decision on whether to grant a reward will be made by the Reward Review Committee established at each police station.

Commissioner Mo Sangmyo stated, "Even at this very moment, countless lives and properties are being protected thanks to citizens' 112 calls. I believe this new reward system will serve as a catalyst to encourage more 112 calls and to foster a culture of crime prevention together with the public."
