'The Power of Conservatism?'... Kim Moon-soo's Approval Rating Surges by 6%p, Joins 2nd Place in Next Presidential Race [Polpol News]

Gallup Poll Results
Lee Jaemyung of Democratic Party Leads with 32 Percent

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, ranked first in the survey of next presidential candidates. Kim Moon-soo, Minister of Employment and Labor, attracted attention by joining the second tier with a sharp rise in approval ratings.

According to a Gallup poll conducted from the 7th to the 9th targeting 1,004 people aged 18 and over nationwide using a wireless phone interviewer method (with a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level and a response rate of 16.3%), Lee's approval rating was 32%. This represents a 5 percentage point drop compared to the previous survey three weeks ago. However, he remained far ahead compared to the second tier candidates.

Minister Kim was newly included in the second tier with 8%. Previously, Kim's approval rating was only 2% in the survey three weeks ago, but in this survey, he received the most support among ruling party candidates. However, this is within the margin of error compared to former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon at 6%, Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo at 5%, and Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon at 3%.

At first glance, the numbers suggest that Lee is significantly ahead of other ruling party candidates. However, while the opposition is consolidated around Lee, the ruling party candidates are dispersed, making a simple comparison of public opinion difficult.
