Gwangju Emergency Action: "Arrest Coup Leader Yoon Without Fail"

Ahead of the execution of the second arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk-yeol, civic groups in Gwangju urged, "Mobilize all means of public authority to ensure his arrest."


The Gwangju Emergency Action for Immediate Resignation of the Yoon Suk-yeol Regime and Social Reform held a press conference in front of the Gwangju Metropolitan Police Agency on the morning of the 10th, stating, "The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials and the Joint Investigation Headquarters must no longer disappoint the people and must follow the people's orders," making this demand.

They continued, "The arrest of Yoon Suk-yeol is a bridgehead to end the constitutional crisis and a bulwark against the regression of the Republic of Korea," and emphasized, "Anyone who interferes in the arrest process, regardless of rank or position, must be arrested as a flagrant offender for obstruction of special official duties and the strictness of the law must be demonstrated."


They added, "Many citizens are already gathering in Hannam-dong to support the arrest of Yoon Suk-yeol," and "Gwangju Emergency Action will also dispatch the 'Arrest Squad for the Main Instigator of Rebellion, Yoon Suk-yeol' to contribute to the arrest."

Meanwhile, a second arrest warrant for President Yoon was issued on the 7th. Regarding this, Oh Dong-woon, head of the Corruption Investigation Office, stated, "We will prepare for the execution of the second arrest warrant with the determination that this will be the last execution," and added, "We will do our utmost at the joint investigation headquarters level to achieve our objective with the second execution." Previously, the Corruption Investigation Office had obtained an arrest warrant for President Yoon and attempted to arrest him with the police, but failed due to obstruction by the Presidential Security Service.
