Gwanak-gu, January 2025 Regular Registration License Tax Imposition

Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) has imposed the regular registration license tax (license portion) for January 2025.

This amounts to a total of 46,630 cases, reaching approximately 1.56 billion KRW.

The registration license tax (license portion) is a local tax imposed on those who have obtained various licenses from administrative authorities.

The types of licenses are classified from Type 1 to Type 5 according to ▲business area ▲number of employees ▲license scale, with tax amounts ranging from 18,000 KRW to 67,500 KRW.

The subjects of taxation are individuals and corporations with an address or business location in Gwanak-gu. As of January 1, 2025, those holding licenses stipulated in Article 39 of the Enforcement Decree of the Local Tax Act, which either have no set validity period or have a validity period exceeding one year, are subject to taxation.

Major taxable licenses include ▲restaurants ▲academies ▲hospitals ▲rental businesses ▲telemarketing sales, etc. However, if a business has closed, it is mandatory to report license cancellation to the tax office and the licensing authority to avoid being charged the regular registration license tax.

The payment period this year is from January 16 to January 31, and a 3% surcharge will be applied if the payment deadline is missed.

License holders can pay the registration license tax at all financial institutions nationwide. Additionally, various payment methods such as ▲unmanned payment kiosks ▲automated teller machines (ATMs) ▲Seoul City local tax internet payment system (ETAX) or app (STAX) allow for account transfers and credit card payments.

Mayor Park Jun-hee said, “Although the economy is very difficult due to unstable domestic and international conditions, I thank the residents who actively cooperate in fostering a sincere tax payment culture,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to promote fair and transparent tax administration.”
