Choi Acting President: "Internal and External Crises... Full-Scale Operation of the National Control Tower" Yonhap News

Choi Sang-mok, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister as well as Minister of Economy and Finance, announced on the 9th that the "Ministerial Meeting on National Issues and Economic Affairs," serving as the national policy control tower, will be fully activated.


At the Ministerial Meeting on National Issues and Economic Affairs held at the Government Seoul Office on the same day, Acting President Choi stated, "We will operate this as a practical forum to thoroughly review all areas of national affairs?including the economy, society, diplomacy and security, and public safety?together with the relevant ministers, and to concretize policies."


He added, "Since domestic and international situations are changing in real time, we will hold meetings weekly for the time being to discuss major issues."


The meeting was attended by Park Sang-woo, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport; Yoo Sang-im, Minister of Science and ICT; Kim Byung-hwan, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission; and Cho Kyu-hong, Minister of Health and Welfare, among others, to discuss the "2025 Lunar New Year Countermeasures" and the "Economic Policy Direction Implementation Plan."


Acting President Choi said, "Our country is currently facing internal and external difficulties." He pointed out, "The international situation is rapidly changing the trade environment, and the landscape of diplomacy and security is shifting. The inauguration of the new U.S. administration and domestic political circumstances are intertwined, increasing uncertainty surrounding our economy."


He emphasized, "To ensure that citizens can live their daily lives without worry, we will concentrate all policy capabilities on the early stabilization of national affairs and the economy. To this end, all ministries and cabinet members will become one team, communicate frequently, and significantly strengthen the cooperation system."
