Organizing Committee Immediately Strips Title Following Public Criticism
Magali Benegas, who represented Argentina in the '2024 Miss Universe,' claimed that the competition was rigged and was subsequently stripped of her 'Miss Argentina' title. On the 8th (local time), the New York Post reported that the Miss Universe Organization issued a statement on the 2nd, saying, "We have thoroughly reviewed Benegas's recent public remarks and have decided to immediately revoke her title in accordance with our principles."

Earlier, Benegas expressed doubts about the results of the Miss Universe pageant held last November during a live broadcast with YouTube content creator King Lucho. She continued to assert that the event was rigged. In particular, she claimed, "When the judges announced the top 5, they looked at each other in a strange way," adding, "It was as if they were saying, 'This is not what we chose.'" She further stated, "At that moment, I was certain the competition was rigged," and added, "It has always been like this every year."
Benegas, who placed 12th, also criticized the winner, Denmark's Victoria Kjær Thygesen, and Puerto Rico's Jennifer Col?n, who made it into the top 12. She pointed out that Victoria Kjær was accompanied by three security guards on the final day of the competition, suspecting that the victory had been predetermined. Additionally, some people claimed that "the results were decided ten days in advance." Benegas also criticized 'Miss Puerto Rico' Jennifer Col?n, saying, "She wore the worst dress that night and was not kind."
Even after the competition, Benegas courted controversy by sharing short videos and posts on her social media with phrases like "Miss Universe's best figure." Despite being stripped of her title, she has not removed the phrase "Miss Universe Argentina 2024" from her social media profile.
Meanwhile, the Miss Universe pageant, an international beauty contest held since 1952, is organized by JKN Global Group and Legacy Holding Group. As the most recognized international beauty pageant, it features representatives from various countries competing for the crown each year. However, due to the ambiguous standards of what constitutes 'beauty,' the competition's results often spark various controversies annually.
