Lunar New Year Digital Onnuri Gift Certificate 15% Discount and 15% Cashback

Discount Rate Increased to 15% for One Month Starting from the 10th

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups will hold the digital Onnuri Gift Certificate 'Big4 Event' from the 10th to February 10th to alleviate consumer price burdens during the Lunar New Year holiday.

First, the discount rate on digital gift certificates will be increased from the existing 10% to 15%. To reduce the price burden on citizens purchasing ritual items and other goods at traditional markets for the Lunar New Year, the discount rate is raised by 5 percentage points.

Up to 15% of the digital gift certificate payment amount will be refunded in digital gift certificates. The refund will be conducted in a total of four installments, and for each installment, refunds can be received up to a maximum of 20,000 KRW per person based on the cumulative payment amount for both card and mobile types. Actual refunds will be provided one week after the end of each installment period (for installments 1 to 3) through the gifting function (card type) and coupon registration (mobile type). Refunds are calculated at 15% of the payment amount and rounded down to the nearest 1,000 KRW unit, with a minimum payment amount of 7,000 KRW required for the refund.

Additionally, when purchasing products with digital gift certificates at 12 online traditional market sections, including Onnuri Market and Onnuri Traditional Market, a 5% discount coupon on the product price can be applied during special discount events. If consumers apply the digital gift certificate purchase discount (15%), refund event (15%), and the online traditional market discount coupon (5%), they can purchase products with a maximum discount benefit of 35%.

A lottery event will also be held. Customers who use a total of 30,000 KRW or more both online and offline will be automatically entered, and in February, approximately 2,025 users each of card and mobile gift certificates will be awarded digital gift certificates in varying amounts through a draw.

Onnuri Gift Certificates can be used at stores within traditional markets, shopping districts, alley-type shopping districts, commercial revitalization zones under the Traditional Market Act, autonomous commercial zones under the Regional Commercial Act, and stores designated as century-old small businesses under the Small Business Act. Purchases made at traditional markets for holiday gifts and ritual items (using card, mobile, or cash receipts) are eligible for a 40% income tax deduction benefit.

Lee Dae-geon, Director of Small Business Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, “We hope that through the Lunar New Year digital gift certificate discount sales and refund events, consumers will feel a tangible relief in the price burden of their holiday shopping baskets.”
