The Korea Cement Association announced on the 8th that at the extraordinary general meeting held at the Plaza Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, Jeon was appointed as the new president.
Jeon, a graduate of Hanyang University’s Department of Resources Engineering, joined Hanil Cement in 1991 and has held positions such as Deputy Plant Manager at the Danyang Plant, Head of Corporate Planning at headquarters, Head of Management Division, Executive Vice President overseeing Hanil Hyundai Cement headquarters, and CEO of Hanil Holdings. He was appointed CEO of Hanil Cement and Hanil Hyundai Cement in 2022.
In 2017, as the person responsible for operations, he led the acquisition of Hyundai Cement, significantly contributing to the early stabilization of Hyundai Cement and the creation of integrated value with Hanil Cement. Since 2022, he has introduced ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management company-wide and has shown great interest in eco-friendly management, even serving as chairman of the ESG Committee.
The cement industry has highly valued Jeon’s extensive experience and leadership, having dedicated over 30 years to the Hanil Cement Group.
In his inaugural speech, Jeon stated, “This year, due to the downturn in upstream industries, domestic cement demand is likely to record the lowest performance in 35 years since the early 1990s. With increasingly stringent environmental regulations and rising manufacturing costs, the cement industry will face unprecedented challenges. Amid this crisis, let us adopt a challenging attitude, think carefully, enhance execution capabilities, and achieve continuous growth and development of the cement industry.”
