Jeong Cheong-rae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, sparked controversy by saying, "Yoon Seok-yeol will be sentenced to death," prompting Kim Jae-seop of the People Power Party to strongly criticize him, saying, "I don't understand why he spews nonsense with his mouth."

On the 8th, Kim appeared on CBS Radio's and said, "It seems that Jeong Cheong-rae has already made up his mind. After serving as the chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee for half a year, he seems to think of himself as a Supreme Court justice," adding, "I would rather like to ask how the second trial result of Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, will turn out."

Earlier, Jeong Cheong-rae, chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee from the Democratic Party, stated at the full committee meeting the previous day, "Yoon Seok-yeol will be sentenced to death by the court trying the charge of treason." This remark came amid a dispute between ruling and opposition parties over the removal of the 'treason' charge from the presidential impeachment motion by the National Assembly's impeachment prosecution team.

Regarding the failed attempt to execute the arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol, Kim said, "I think the process of executing the warrant was very inappropriate," but added, "The president should comply with the issued warrant." He continued, "The party should point out the issues, and the lawyers should handle them," and criticized, "The president promised to take full legal and political responsibility. But looking at the current situation, there is no sign of political responsibility or any responsibility." Furthermore, he added, "I believe that the president voluntarily appearing to be directly investigated or directly responding to this is a responsible attitude."
